Macquarie University E7A Refurbishment Project
A busy month! The E7A Refurbishment Project at Macquarie University was announced winner in the Tertiary Buildings $40-$55M category at the NSW Master Builders Association Awards earlier in November.
The project combined two 40+ year old buildings into a new space for the Faculty of Science and Engineering, with works including a complete strip out of the existing building, new lifts and core structure and the installation of in-slab heating via gas hot water. Sustainable measures also included solar stack chimneys, PV array and, within the new atrium, a motorised roof top smoke relief vent with minimum energy consumption.
Importantly, works were timed to ensure site safety and work around sensitive University activities like ongoing technical research, examinations and graduations in adjoining buildings.
Building E7A has set a new standard for future refurbishment projects at Macquarie University.
Congratulations to the Macquarie University delivery team, Buildcorp Interiors and our CI team of Pat Francis and Erik Maasepp.
